Where to Find Local Shelters

The easiest way to find a local animal shelter is to use the Internet or the phone book. Try looking for "animal shelter" and "humane organization".

Try to visit some of your local shelters to find one that you like. Look for a shelter that is clean and well-organized and has friendly staff and volunteers. Once you find a shelter, tell someone at the front desk that you are thinking of volunteering and ask them who you should talk to for more information. There are probably several staff members that you will need to talk to.
